Company Background

Incorporated in 1996 Tank Farm Services have gained a reputation for supplying dependable service at competitive rates, TFSL has and continues to pursue a policy of development and continuous improvement of its services in order to meet with the customers requirements.

Our aim is to build a long-term mutually beneficial partnership that goes beyond the traditional client/contractor relationship and provides our client with an added value service through our proactive innovative approach to contracting.

The quality control and experience of our workforce within the industry coupled with a structured and meaningful training programme, has enabled us to achieve a safety performance that is second to none in the industry.

The quality of Tank Farm Services Ltd work has been recognised by ConocoPhillips Petroleum by being awarded their 'Supplier of Excellence' award.

Sludge Management Technology

Environment and Health and Safety legislation will ultimately dictate how we clean our bulk liquid storage vessels and how we dispose of the sludge. Tankage operators will be put under pressure to better manage their systems.

For sludge management: MINIMISE, RECYCLE & RECOVER will become watch words.

Tanks will be desludged and cleaned: WITHOUT MAN ENTRY.

Tank Farm Services Ltd, a U.K. company with more than thirty years experience, have developed products and services to meet current and future demands.

SEPS

The SEPS three phase processing system combines established separation principles i.e. temperature enhanced hydrocyclonic effect, steam stripping, progressive sedimentation, filtration and drying under vacuum, to recover clean and dry oil from hazardous hydrocarbon waste releasing water suitable for discharge to drain, without further treatment, and producing a dry, friable sediment containing no leachable hydrocarbon and suitable for landfill, landfarm, or road base etc.

The SEPS system can be used to process any mixture which can be made pumpable and where there is an inherent gravitational difference between the components. For example storage tank sludge, lagooned waste, oil spills, on land or sea, solvent rich industrial waste, sewage sludge etc. etc. Safety features include an interlocked air operated valve system, explosion proofed power units, Zone 1 electric's and a totally enclosed gas condensation system.

Traditionally this type of separation has involved the use of high speed rotating equipment, prone to mechanical breakdown and extremely hazardous in a gaseous environment.

The SEPS system is available for purchase as a static or mobile unit to meet your daily waste processing needs, or as a contracted service for specific situations.

Mastir Cannons

Tank Farm Services' Mastir Cannons and Live Mastir Cannons are designed to keep tanks free from sludge thereby maximising tank utilisation, minimising process upsets and reducing corrosion of the tank floor plates by maintaining a clean floor and an open water draw. Regular operation of a fixed installation Mastir Cannon as part of a routine sludge control strategy will have a dramatic effect on the scale of the tank clean prior to inspection and will minimise the amount of sludge to processed and disposed of thereby contributing to the tank cleaning personnel; while minimising impact on the environment.

Desludging without man entry

The Mastir Cannons combine the effects of maceration and positive displacement pumping, with programmable nozzle orientation to reconstitute accumulated sludge into overhead product. For tanks with existing problems, TFSL offer the Mastir system as a contracted service for desludging without man entry.

Manway Removal Unit

Complimentary to the Patented SEPS and Mastir System is a range of specialist plant and equipment designed to improve sludge handling productivity, thereby offering a cost effective solution to industrial waste problems.

In situations where sludge has built up in storage tanks to such an extent that the floating roof cannot be landed and there are no access points for the Live Mastir Cannons to be installed The TFSL Manway Removal Unit 'MRU' allows a storage tank manway to be removed, and a Live Mastir Cannon to be installed while the tank is live.

Transmas Pump

An integral part of the Mastir system, the Transmas Pump, combine the worlds largest progressive cavity pump with an integral macerator enabling the unit to transfer and recirculate highly viscous sludges, at rates previously unachievable. The combined action of the Transmas Pump effectively changes physical characteristics of the sludge to enhance pumping and preconditions the sludge prior to resuspension or processing.

Hydraulic Sludge Dozer

The TFSL hydraulic sludge dozer is a design improvement on existing technology and is the ideal tool for final desludging of a storage tank where a competent operator can do the work of ten men with squeegees, by reducing the number of men required inside the tank, the sludge dozer contributes to the safety of the tank clean and minimises tank downtime due to cleaning. The dozer can be dismantled and reassembled for operation inside the tank in less than 15 minutes. For lagoon work, the dozer is convertible to remote control for submerged operation. A range of hydraulic attachments e.g. coil cutter, carrier, pump, jetting head are available to suit specific requirements.

Progressive Cavity Pumps & Hydraulic Powerpack

A range of progressive cavity pumps having different capabilities are available which, together with the sludge dozer, are powered by the TFSL hydraulic powerpack which is designed to provide hydraulic power to any two auxiliary items. The powerpack is built to exacting standards and incorporates a range of safety features including Chalwyn valve and spark arrestor for operation in Zone 1 areas.

Mobile PAckage Steam Boiler

Heat, provided by steam, can have dramatic effect on semi-solid waste and is increasingly important in many areas of tank cleaning and sludge processing. Often, plant steam is inadequate or simply unavailable. To meet this requirement, TFSL have a Mobile Package Steam Boiler, fully self contained and able to deliver 10,000lb of steam at 10-bar pressure, at any location no matter how remote.

Tank Farm Services are committed to a policy of product enhancement driven by the need to protect our environment and the health and safety of personnel.

Oil Spill Control

TFSL can supply oil control booms, sweeps, sheets, rolls and pillows, which are ideal an ideal solution for oil spills. They are hydrophobic and are designed for absorbing oil from water, they will not sink and can be easily disposed by incineration or in the case of the large booms can be wrung out and reused.

Booms

Designed to meet the customers individual requirements for containing oil spills on inland waterways ports and harbours, available in various sizes.

Pillows

Ideal for absorbing oil and other hydrocarbons from areas with restricted access, such as bilges, tanks, drainage ditches, interceptors and sumps.

Rolls

Rolls can be used on land or water. They can be cut to size and are often used as an alternative to sheets.

Sheets

All the pre-cut sheets are ideal for the use with smaller oil spills sheet sizes are 480mm x 430mm.

Sweeps

Used for the removal of thin oil films and rainbow sheens, usually from ponds or lakes. They can be anchored at one end and manoeuvred by boat if required. Sizes 480mm x 30m.
